The (8-1) Bengals continued to cruise along as they readied themselves for their JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division Championship bout. This week’s opponent, the (2-7) Eagles, quickly fell prey to the Bengals’ fast paced offensive attack as Malachi Smith’s TD grab and Jared Radil’s wire to wire TD sprint and diving TD catch gave the Bengals an 18-0 lead. Also aiding the Bengals cause were two interceptions, one by Smith and another by James Bajor. Just before half time, the Eagles hit paydirt as Janaaron Aquino connected with Jaime Betancur for a 25 yard TD strike making it 18-6, Bengals. With Drew Radil at the helm for most of the game, and calling most of the plays, the Bengals made it 24-6 on a 15 yard toss to James Bajor. That score was soon answered after two key receptions by Chris and Ryan Ballance set up Jan Patrick Egan’s sliding TD catch to cut the Bengals’ lead to 24-12. One play later, the Eagles found themselves trailing 30-12 as Michael Tedesco sailed a long TD bomb to James Bajor for Bajor’s second TD of the game. Malachi Smith then jumped into action on defense picking off an Eagle’s pass deep in Bengal’s territory. The Eagles’ defense then forced a three and out to set up a 10 yard TD run by Jaime Betancur cutting the Bengals’ lead to 30-18. As the game clock continued to wind down, the Eagles’ Jaime Betancur notched his third TD but the Bengals countered with two TD passes to Jared Radil and a pair of two point darts to Malachi Smith as the Bengals captured a 46-24 victory.
