To the Editor:
I hope each and every one of you had a very Merry Christmas.
I look forward to a great New Year. I get more excited with each day moving forward with our grassroots Better Bayonne campaign. Thank you to all who have responded with emails, phone calls, and contributions. I will continue working hard to hear your problems, comments, suggestions, and feedback.
The time has come for us to band together to fight against the machine of the same old Hudson County politics: The same people, same lines, same connections, and same failures.
This town was not built nor can be fixed by the federal government as some have suggested. It was built on the backs of our senior citizens and veterans and it will be fixed through shared efforts by each and every one of you. The stagnant progress of Bayonne’s Gold Coast and the abandonment of Broadway have gone on for way too long. Bayonne’s problems are not America’s problems. Bayonne has a great geographic location and has an ever-growing diverse population, and that makes Bayonne stand out as a gem of a community. I stand with my team to be your voice in city hall. I stand to fight against the fire sale of Bayonne properties and unnecessary long-term tax abatements to billionaire developers in high-traffic areas of Bayonne. I stand with the teachers, and I will never give up fighting for our children.
In the coming months, I will be sharing with you our vision of how we can achieve a better Bayonne. The time is now to say no to an administration that has been pushing our seniors to move out of town by excessively raising property taxes in the last six years. The time is now to say no to an administration that says it cares about our children but refuses to contract the very teachers who love and care for them.
