Police depts. around the county searching for woman who tried to rob Hoboken bank

HOBOKEN — The search is on for a woman who allegedly tried to rob a bank in uptown Hoboken Thursday evening, according to an NJ.com report which cited police radio transmissions. The woman apparently passed an intimidating note, which claimed she was in possession of a weapon, to a bank employee, but was ultimately unsuccessful in her endeavors.
The incident took place on 14th and Garden streets around 6:30 p.m. It’s unclear how long the woman, described as “young,” was in the bank, but the radio transmissions indicated that she was not in possession of any money when she left. The radio transmissions did not specify the type of weapon she might have been carrying, but did note that she was wearing black clothing and white sneakers, NJ.com said.
Police apparently spent the night looking for the woman around northern Hoboken, according to the report, and several neighboring municipalities have been notified of the ongoing search. – Dean DeChiaro
