Fishman zips Zimmer’s lips

HOBOKEN – Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer, who spent much of the past week appearing on various TV programs, will no longer speak to the media about her recent allegations against New Jersey Gov. Christopher Christie at the request of the U.S. Attorney’s office, said city spokesman Juan Melli.
On Saturday, Zimmer appeared on MSNBC and alleged that high-ranking officials Christie’s administration threatened to withhold hurricane relief funding until she approved a development project with connections to Christie. She spoke to The Reporter that evening, and since then has given interviews to CNN and other major networks, but has apparently gone tight-lipped after she met with federal prosecutors on Sunday. It’s unclear if an investigation is underway.
A media representative for Paul Fishman, the district of New Jersey’s lead federal investigator, did not return a call for comment. On Sunday, however, a different spokeswoman refused to confirm or deny that the meeting took place when asked by NJ.com. – Dean DeChiaro
