The Good Samaritan

To the Editor:

At times we think Bayonne is on a path downward with citizens who have little or no respect for each other. There are still those Bayonne citizens who deeply care about their neighbors and community.
On January 4th, my mother Anna decided to go outside after the snow and ice storm. She went to the area of 46th and Avenue B and slipped and fell and could not get up. Mr. Vito Bilotta came upon her, helped her up and guided her back to her apartment more than a block away. He made sure she was safe and called our house. Later she needed to be taken to Bayonne Hospital and treated for a fractured kneecap. She will be released and home shortly.
I would like to publicly thank Mr. Vito Bilotta for being the “Good Samaritan.” Once in a great while a hero steps up amongst us, Mr. Bilotta is one in our eyes. In 20 degree weather my 88 year old Mom would not have lasted long. My family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts!
Also, we would like to thank the Bayonne Police, McCabe’s EMT’s, Bayonne Hospital and Staff for being the “Best There Is.”
