To the Editor:
I had pictured Bayonne as a city populated by hard working, law abiding, patriotic Americans but was quite shocked and disappointed during the holidays just passed. My wife and I were visiting my daughter, who recently purchased a home in Bayonne, staying over for Christmas day and then again for the New Years Eve event. On two separate days the American flag we had attached to the roof antenna was torn off and in one occasion thrown on the ground. This total disrespect for the emblem that represents our great nation shattered my respect for your city. It’s unfortunate that the culprits don’t appreciate that they’re fortunate to be living in the center of freedom in this world and they’re actions, if wide spread threaten the future of this country and the future of civilization as we know it. It’s unfortunate that people who commit these types of violations don’t realize that anarchy can lead to our destruction.
