A funeral mass was offered Jan. 6 at Our Lady of Mercy Church for Attilio Rizzo, 91, of Jersey City. He passed away peacefully on Jan. 1. He was born in Gioi, Salerno, Italy and immigrated to Jersey City in 1955 with his wife Maria. Attilio was a devoted, helpful and man. Over the years he assisted family and friends in Italy by sponsoring and supporting their journey to make Jersey City their new home. He helped numerous families start a new life here and was always well respected for his dedication.
He retired from Western Electric after several decades of work. Husband of 40 years to the late Maria (Miranda); father of Robert Rizzo, MD and his wife Anna Maria, Attilio Rizzo, Jr., PhD and his wife Eufrecina; grandfather of Claudia and Christian Rizzo; brother of Anna Errico and the late Angelo, Americo, Nicola, Egidio, Pasquale, Adolofo and Albino Rizzo; brother-in-law of Emma and Rosalie Rizzo; uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.
