What does Weehawken mayor think of Zimmer/Christie matter — and of Rockefeller development just three blocks away in Hoboken?

WEEHAWKEN AND BEYOND — If a 40-story building were constructed by the Rockefeller Group near Hoboken’s northern border, Hoboken wouldn’t be the only town directly affected. A mere three blocks away is the Shades section of Weehawken, which was heavily flooded during Hurricane Sandy.
Hoboken’s two two-lane roads out of town shoot through Weehawken toward the Lincoln Tunnel.
The Rockefeller Group building made national news recently when Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer alleged that the administration of Gov. Chris Christie suggested that Hurricane Sandy aid to her town would be tied to her help with getting the project approved. A close Christie ally was, until recently, a lobbyist for Rockefeller, which might explain Christie’s interest in the private development.
Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner generally stays out of controversial matters in Hudson County. So the Reporter asked him last week what he thinks of the Christie/Zimmer issue and of the potential for a building in that area.
