Secaucus gets ready for “Winter Blast”

SECAUCUS – This week will be overflowing with activity in Secaucus, with a wide variety of entertainment, sports, food, and attractions filling Buchmuller Park in anticipation of the Super Bowl. At a press conference on Monday for the upcoming “Winter Blast” event taking place from Thursday, Jan. 30 through Saturday, Feb. 1, Mayor Michael Gonnelli and other presenters gave a taste of what attendees can expect.
Music will be a big part of the festivities, with bands and performers each night. Broadway’s Darius Kaleb, the young Michael Jackson in Motown the Musical, wowed the crowd at the press conference by belting out a song, while Cindy Fox, the “Naked Cowgirl,” proved the cold was no match for a red, white, and blue bikini.
Already onsite for their upcoming photo opportunities are the Vince Lombardi Trophy and TV’s Batmobile, with a giant snowglobe, life-sized dinosaur, and ice sculptures scheduled to join them. Spaces are currently being set up for the “Vendor Village” and “Food Truck Mash,” to include about 30 purveyors of eclectic eats.
Tickets to Winter Blast cost $10 per day in advance, with children under 10 free. Discounts are available for multiple tickets. For more information or to buy tickets visit www.northjersey.com/winterblast. –Art Schwartz
