After an (0-2) start, the Dragons set their sights on getting into the win column as they faced the (1-2) Knights in a JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Jr. Division bout. The Dragons took control right from the opening whistle as Ryan “Iron” Griffin torched the Knights’ net for two quick goals with Matt Miceli on the assists. Down 2 zip, the Knights’ Alejandro “See Ya” got his squad on the board with a penalty boot making it 2-1, Dragons. The next fifteen minutes belonged to “Iron” Griffin and the hard charging Dragons as Griffin poured in 3 more goals while Matt Miceli added a scoring strike as the Dragons built a 6-1 advantage. Also playing key roles on the Dragons’ scoring outburst were goalie Nicholas Resua and sweepers Anthony Frasier and Arya Deshmukh who each picked up an assist. Trailing by 5 goals, the Knights sured up their defense with Raquel Belber and Aaliyana Cifuentes rallying to the ball which helped to set up Josue Belbers’ bullseye pass to Alejandro Cifuentes who netted his eighth goal of the season making it 6-2. With less than five minutes remaining, the Dragons’ unstoppable tandem of Griffin and Miceli iced an 8-2 victory as Griffin wrapped up his day with 7 goals and 1 assist while Miceli notched 1 goal and 5 assists.
