Funeral mass was celebrated March 24 at St. Joseph’s Church for Lydia Benitez Cortes, 65, of Jersey City. She passed away March 20 at Jersey City Medical Center. Born in Puerto Rico, she lived most of her life in Jersey City. Lydia was predeceased by her husband Jaime L. Cortes. She is survived by her children, Jimmy Cortes, Madeline Pagan and Omaira Cortes; her grandchildren, Brandy, Nicholas, Jaime, Josuel, Maya, Mikalia, Michael and D’Andre; four great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends both in the US and in Puerto Rico that are too numerous to mention.
