Warm weather means it’s time for baseball! Hoboken recently enjoyed another Little League opening day. Here are some scores and photos.
Mario’s Pizza defeats Chirachella Boys 8-4
Hudson Porada led Mario’s Pizza to victory with a single, double and a home run in their Little League matchup. Eli Blumenfeld contributed a two run single. Sawyer Kron struck out eight batters and earned the win.
Asaf Greenfield led defeated Chirachella Boys, hitting an RBI triple and scoring a run. On the other side, Pitcher Ryan Burke walked five with four strike outs.
Russo’s defeats Piccolo’s 6-5
Russo’s Michael Effinger led his team to victory with a home run and a single. Matthew Harasack contributed with an RBI single. Jae Cotto earned the win by pitching 1 and 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.
Zach Oswald led Piccolo’s with two extra base hits. He also took the loss, despite striking out an impressive 11 batters in 5 and 1/3 innings. Christian Conte contributed with an RBI single for Piccolo’s. Anthony Cuozzo took the loss.
