War vets support renaming Wittpenn Bridge

Dear Editor:
Jewish War Veterans Post 76 in North Bergen echo their support for the renaming of the Wittpenn Bridge in honor of the four US Army Chaplains who went down when the USS Dorchester was torpedoed in WWII.
According to Post 76 Commander, David Kronick, there are a number of reasons for their support, including the fact that Chaplain John Washington was from Hudson County and author, Dan Kurzman who wrote their story in “No Greater Glory” was a member of Post 76. Author Kurzman joined Cmdr. Kronick with their wives to attend the memorial service at St. Stephen’s Church in Kearny in 2004.
