Rooting for the Smith Team

To the Editor:

On May 13, Bayonne residents had the opportunity to vote in the municipal election. Before the night was over, it was clear the race was close and there would be a runoff. After all the votes were tallied, Mayor Mark Smith had 49 percent while Jimmy Davis had 47 percent. In order for a candidate to win in the municipal race in the City of Bayonne, a candidate must gain 50 percent plus to be victorious. Unfortunately, Mayor Smith was unlucky by a few votes. In the end, he still did well since he got the highest number of votes but it was not enough. There will be a runoff election on June 10 and I am urging you to contact your friends, relatives, and neighborhoods and urge them to come out to vote to re-elect Mayor Mark Smith and the rest of his council team. Let’s have even more voters turn out for the runoff election to vote for Team Smith. Since 2008, Mayor Mark Smith has been at the forefront tackling issues that matter most to the residents of the City of Bayonne. He has never given up and will continue to fight for Bayonne but he needs your help. So on June 10, please vote for Team Smith, which has a real plan to continue the progress in Bayonne.
