Anthony Romano deserves reelection

Dear Editor:
As a lifelong resident of Hoboken, I have known Anthony, better known as “Stick,” Romano for over 40 years. His family is a fixture in Hoboken for three generations. Anthony was my son’s captain for many years and he respects him as a leader and supporter of the Hoboken Police Department.
I think one of the most memorable experiences of leadership that Anthony has shown was during Superstorm Sandy. It was a dangerous time for me without water, electricity, and severe flooding.
During Superstorm Sandy, Anthony showed a decisiveness and calm in assisting the city government as a representative of the County. He brought all the county resources to bear working with the Hoboken Office of Emergency Management and Director of Public Safety as well as the National Guard to problem solve and ensure the safety of the residents of Hoboken, during a very difficult and dangerous time. He worked with Public Service to find a solution to drain the water from the Downtown Power Station.
Whether riding on the back of National Guard trucks or walking the Hoboken Housing Authority areas, Captain Romano was omnipresent, calm, and collected during this difficult time in our city’s history. His leadership ability has developed over many years of loyal service to the Hoboken Police Department and as an educator.
His ability to work with all those involved in a respectful and insightful way shows that is it is not about politics with him, but it is about governing and working with whomever to help the people he represents.
