North Bergen High School art show to include first new mural in 10 years

NORTH BERGEN – North Bergen High School (NBHS) is holding its annual student art exhibit from Monday, June 2 to Wednesday, June 4. Featured will be the work of seniors Celeste Izquierdo, Paul Sepulveda, Milagros Oviedo, Jonathan Paredes, and many others. There will be hundreds of individual student work including paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics and crafts displayed in the high school auditorium located at 7417 John F Kennedy Blvd W, North Bergen, NJ. Phone: (201) 295-2800.
In addition to all the student artwork the art department will also unveil the high school’s first mural in 10 years. Located in room 112, the mural is a tribute to Italy’s greatest artists, architecture and culture. It was painted by seniors Milagros Oviedo and Adriana Martinez under the supervision of Mr. Rodriguez, one of the school’s art teachers. Working during their free periods–usually 40 minutes at a time, two or three times a week–the mural took four months to complete.
The NBHS Art department has a reputation for having a rigorous curriculum. Their students often go on to win many awards and accolades from around the state. Recently, NBHS art students won awards at the William Paterson annual student art exhibit as well as the Hudson County Teen Arts held in Bayonne. Some of these students were Celeste Izquierdo, Sarahi Medina, Ariana Cruz, Paul Sepulveda, and Daniela Valencia.
The North Bergen High School art exhibit is one of the biggest events in the school. It draws the entire student and teacher population as well as parents and friends eager to meet and greet the creators and artists.
