Secaucus Mayor endorses Tom DeGise for County Executive

SECAUCUS – Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, who is up for re-election in 2015, received the endorsement today of Mayor Michael Gonnelli, continuing the groundswell of support behind his re-election bid. Gonnelli is the sixth Hudson County mayor to publicly support the county executive’s campaign.
“Our County Executive Tom DeGise is always there when we need him, and has never forgotten Secaucus,” said Gonnelli. “He has been instrumental in getting some of our roads paved, facilities improved and helping to secure Community Development Block Grants for Secaucus. Tom doesn’t care about votes, he cares about people.”
Gonnelli went on to say “As long as Tom DeGise runs for county executive, he will always have my support.”
“I am humbled to receive the support of Mayor Gonnelli,” said DeGise. “My job as county executive is to work with all the mayors to help them solve the unique problems each individual community faces. I have developed a strong personal and professional relationship with Mayor Gonnelli and am proud of some of the great things we have accomplished together for Secaucus.”
DeGise has already received the endorsements of North Bergen Mayor and State Senator Nicholas Sacco and Union City Mayor and State Senator Brian Stack, and last week received the endorsement of Harrison Mayor James Fife, Kearny Mayor Al Santos, East Newark Mayor Joseph Smith, Freeholder Al Cifelli, and several other local leaders in West Hudson.
The event was held at The Elms senior citizen building in Secaucus, where a $180,000 grant award was announced to improve facilities for its residents. Also present were Councilwoman Susan Pirro, Councilman Robert Costantino, Secaucus Housing Authority Executive Director Christopher Marra, and several Secaucus Housing Authority Commissioners.
