GRANT, ELOISE

A Celebration of Life Service from the Porter Memorial COGIC, Jersey City, took place June 18 for Eloise Grant, 77, of Jersey City. She passed away June 11 at Jersey City Medical Center. She was educated in the Estill, S.C. public school system. In 1964 she moved from South Carolina to Jersey City, where she quickly gained employment and worked in various positions in the tri-state area.
In 1985 she retired from M&M Verdi Luggage Company of Jersey City. Eloise, affectionately known as “Weeze” by family and friends, was a longtime member of the Little Rock Baptist Church of Jersey City. She served on the usher board and was a member of the “Little Rock Gospel Singers” choir, performing throughout South Carolina and New Jersey.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Maxine Emerson, Patricia Howard (Amin), Loretta Walker (Dwight), Classical Carson (Scott), Alice Fields (Lamont), Sanita Hyppolite (finance’ Kenneth), Cora Page (Tony Sr.), and her sons Jerome Grant, Earl Grant (Sharon) and Felix Grant (Danna). She was grandmother to 36, great grandmother to 44, and great-great grandmother to four. She was predeceased by her husband Clevand Grant, her parents Cora Deloatch Black and Eugene Emerson, and a sister Frances Hardy. She is survived by a host of other family and friends.
