Bayonne resident representing area in national Special Olympics competition

BAYONNE –Ian Hudacko of Bayonne is representing Bayonne, Hudson County, and all of New Jersey at the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games being held this week in the Mercer County area.
Hudacko, 21, was selected by Special Olympics of New Jersey for the Garden State’s volleyball team at the national competition being held through Saturday, June 21. He is the lone Hudson County representative on the volleyball squad.
“Even If I come in second, or third—or beyond that—I’ll still be happy,” Hudacko said. “As long as I’m representing my county and my state of New Jersey I’ll be happy.”
Hudacko will be one of the 270 athletes representing the state, and one of the 3,500 participants from across the country.
Competitions will be held at venues throughout Mercer County, including Princeton University, Rider University, The College of New Jersey, Mercer County Park, and several area private schools.
The games will celebrate the Special Olympics movement while promoting the ideals of acceptance and inclusion through sport and highlighting the abilities of athletes with intellectual disabilities. – Joseph Passantino
