Funeral mass was offered July 5 at Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City, for Josephine “Seppie” Colasurdo, 87 of Jersey City. She passed away July 1 at Gates Manor in Montclair. Born in Jersey City, to the late Modesto and Carmela (Vassalotti) Colasurdo, she was a lifelong resident. She was employed with the City of Jersey City as a Custodial Aide for many years, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of the Maria SS. Dell’Assunta Society, of which her father was a founding member, and the Senior Citizens Group. During the La Festa Italiana, Holy Rosary’s Annual Parish Feast, Seppie could often be seen sitting next to the Campobasso stand socializing with her family and friends. She was the sister of Bernardino “Dinny” Colasurdo and his wife, the late Antoinette Barbarisi, the late Michael Colasurdo and his wife, Theresa Corio, the late Antoinette Colasurdo, and the late Frank Colasurdo. More affectionately known as “Aunt Sep” to her nephews: Modesto “Marty”, Louis, Frank, Bernard “Dinny Boy”, Michael, Anthony, Carmine and Bernard Colasurdo, Nieces; Rosemarie Whitted, Valerie McMillan, Maryann McNulty, Bernadette Discepolo, Rose Colasurdo, and the late Theresa “Tee Tee” Colasurdo. She is also had many grandnieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews, in addition to numerous cousins and friends. Services arranged by the Branch Brook Memorial Home, Belleville.
