Hudson County seniors enjoy cruise

Voyage took sightseers around NY Harbor and East River

The entire inside deck of the vessel The Spirit of New Jersey was filled with merry makers on July 23 as senior citizens from Hudson County took a summer cruise around lower Manhattan.
The outing, which departed from 1500 Harbor Boulevard in Weehawken, was filled with residents of Hoboken and Weehawken, who dined on a buffet lunch and danced when they weren’t seeing the sights of the harbor and the city on a day of perfect weather.
Their itinerary took them from New Jersey to the Brooklyn Bridge on the day the NYPD discovered someone had hoisted white flags to replace Old Glory at the top of the bridge tower.
The two-hour cruise was sponsored by Mayor Richard Turner and the Township Council, and the Hudson County Office of Aging.
