A funeral mass was offered Aug. 2 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Jersey City, for Lord Balatbat, 36, and his wife, Lolibeth Ortega, 37. They died tragically July 24 when a tornado hit their campground in Virginia. Lord was born in Pandito, Bulacan, Philippines, and came to the United States in 1992, settling in Jersey City. He was a floor manager for Walgreen’s, at the corner of Seaview Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard in the Greenville section of Jersey City. Lolibeth, who celebrated her birthday on July 22, was born in Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. She came to the United States in 1994, settling in Wallington. She has lived in Jersey City since her marriage 15 years ago. She was a clinical laboratory assistant for Quest Diagnostics in Teterboro for the last 15 years. Lord and Lolibeth are survived by their parents, Lilia (Nolasco) and Luis Balatbat and Severa (Evora) and Herman Ortega, respectively their children, Lheandrew Lloyd O. Balatbat, Lhariezha Anne O. Balatbat and Lheanna Leigh O. Balatbat: Lord’s brothers, Levi, Luis, Jr., Lowell, Lovell and Lawrence Balatbat and their spouses: and Lolibeth’s siblings Yoly Villanueva, Dionisio, Ronnilito, Roberto, Pablito, Michael, Joseph, Leslie and the late Hilario Ortega; and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom they held to their heartsServices arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
