Robbins Reef Yacht Club, M.A.R.E.S. Committee will host a fundraiser supporting wounded service member through Wounded Warrior Project. A portion of the proceeds will also go to local children’s charities. Mike Hamra, Chairman of the M.A.R.E.S. Committee, announced the August 23 fundraising event will benefit service members who have been injured in the line of duty. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and local children’s charities. The Wounded Warrior Project supports a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families. The M.A.R.E.S. Committee consists of members from five local yacht clubs and marinas (Mariner’s Harbor, Atlas Marina, Robbin’s Reef Yacht Club, Elco Marina, and Snipes Marina).The fluke fishing tournament begins at 6 a.m. and will conclude with a weigh in at 4 p.m. All anglers with boats are welcome to participate. The captains meeting is August 22, 7 p.m. at Robbin’s Reef Yacht Club, 21 Pavonia Ct. Bayonne. The entrance fee is $100 per boat with four anglers. Prizes will be awarded for largest fish. Food and drink will be available and entertainment will be by D.J.C. Trio and by T-bone Shuffle. A $10 donation is requested at the gate.
