To the Editor:
As The Independent candidate for Freeholder, I am taking this opportunity to formally and publicly challenge my sole opponent in this race to an open debate on the issues.
Bayonne taxpayers send millions of dollars to county government, yet the County has long shortchanged the city of Bayonne. My opponent, Ken Kopacz, was handpicked by the Hudson County political organization that controls the Board of Freeholders and is responsible for denying Bayonne its fair share.
It is time that my opponent was made to publicly answer for the people who gave him permission to run, and whose questionable policies he eagerly supports.
As the only Independent in this election, and the only alternative to the political machine, I pledge to fight for Bayonne residents and to stand up for the values and policies that put people first, rather than a discredited political organization.
Accordingly, I call upon my opponent to publicly debate all the issues in this campaign at a fair and free public forum in front of the taxpayers of our great city.
