Bayonne Fire Department called to overturned vehicle

BAYONNE – City firefighters responding to motor vehicle accident call in the Bergen Point section on Thursday, Sept. 18, found a car completely upside down on a street corner.

At 8:32 a.m., the Bayonne Fire Department responded to 5th Street and Humphrey Avenue on the report of a motor vehicle accident.

“Arriving firefighters witnessed a damaged Chrysler Sebring, and a damaged and overturned Toyota Prius Hybrid at the street intersection,” said Fire Chief Gregory Rogers.

A female driver reportedly escaped from the overturned vehicle before emergency workers arrived, according to Rogers. The woman complained of head and neck pain and was transported to Bayonne Medical Center.

There were three occupants in the Chrysler Sebring, according to reports.

Firefighters used absorbents to contain fluids leaking from the Sebring, a fire official said.
