Thank you to former Mayor Richard Rutkowski

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter in regard to former Mayor Richard Rutkowski of our city. I want to congratulate him for still showing an interest in the residents of our city. He is the only former elected city politician who still attends city meetings, city functions, and even writes letters to the editor.
While in office as mayor he gave his best to serve the residents of Bayonne. He was always available to assist people no matter what their problem was. He was a twenty-four-hour-a-day mayor. He was the only mayor who left office, to have left a $5 million surplus in our water department!
When Mayor Rutkowski left office the city formed the infamous Bayonne Municipal Utilities Authority (BMUA). After 12 years under former Mayors Kiczek, Doria, and Smith they gave to the taxpayers a $150 million bonded debt! The city water department is now leased to United Water for the next 40 years.
I thank you Mayor Rutkowski for your past and present record in serving our city to improve our quality of life and welfare of the people. Please don’t ever stop helping because you are a rare honest politician with a heart.
