BAYONNE – The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) track of Bayonne High School’s Academy for Fine Arts and Academics officially opened on Thursday, Oct. 17, during a one-hour program.
Board of Education and city officials, past and present, attended.
Former mayor Mark Smith was lauded by Mayor James Davis, Schools Superintendent Patricia McGeehan, and Academy Coordinator Laura Craig for being a motivating force behind the academy’s formation.
Three companies, which each donated $50,000 for specific portions of the STEM program, were honored at the ceremony. They were BCB Community Bank, CarePoint Health, and International Matex Tank Terminals.
The ribbon cutting of the STEM facility, based on the high school’s third floor, followed the opening last year of the academy’s fine and performing arts track. – Joseph Passantino
