Car overturns on Bayonne Bridge; driver arrest on DWI charge

BAYONNE – A Newark man was charged with driving while intoxicated after his vehicle overturned on the Bayonne Bridge, a Port Authority of New & New Jersey spokesman said.
At 12:15 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, a 200 Infinity G20 was found overturned on the bridge in the northbound lane near the Ave. A intersection.
Port Authority Police Officer Basil Puglisi then saw Vadimir Dickens, 30, of Newark, the vehicle’s driver, outside the car.
“When officers interviewed the suspect, his speech was [allegedly] slurred and he had a smell of liquor about his person,” said Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo. “He said after the crash, which damaged traffic barriers, he had crawled [out] from the overturned vehicle.”
The Infinity was removed from the roadway at about 12:50 a.m., the vehicle was impounded, and Dickens was placed under arrest, according to Pentangelo.
