Library to host reception for artist Edwin Montalvo on Dec. 12

SECAUCUS – The Secaucus Public Library is holding a reception on Friday, Dec. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. to celebrate local artist Edwin Montalvo. Montalvo, who is also the founder of the Secaucus Art School, is the library’s Artist in Residence for December. His work will be on display in the Panasonic meeting room on the library’s second floor until Dec. 30. The reception is open to the public and provides an opportunity for members of the community to meet Montalvo, view his artwork, and enjoy light refreshments.
The artist describes the paintings in this exhibit as “minimal figurative representations often juxtaposed with 1950s illustrations representing the life of the American couple.” Montalvo received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his Master of Fine Arts from the Yale University School of Art. A certified art teacher, Montalvo currently teaches at the High School for Media and Communications in New York City. On weeknights and weekends, he oversees the Secaucus Art School, which hosts visual arts classes for children and adults.
