BAYONNE AND BEYOND – Bayonne officials visited United Cerebral Palsy of Hudson County, 721 Broadway, on Thursday, Dec. 4, to donate boxes of blankets, sheets, and pillows in anticipation of the center’s expansion of the sleep and play area for its Pediatric Day Care clients.
The renovations are being done to accommodate more children.
Mayor James Davis, Chief of Staff Andrew Casais, and Samantha Howard, assistant director of the Community Development and Grants Management Division, represented the city in making the contributions.
UCP Associate Executive Director Keith Kearney and others from the organization were on hand to accept the donations, as were as the children who will benefit from them.
All the items presented to UCP were donated by the Bayonne Community Development Office. UCP is one of Bayonne’s major non-profit recipients receiving Community Development Block Grant Funding.
“They receive funding for operational costs to provide the services that they provide,” Howard said. “They also receive funding to do reconstruction of their building that addresses Americans with Disability Act compliance, codes, and health-related issues.” –Joseph Passantino
