BAYONNE – The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has announced daily closures and traffic holds for the Bayonne Bridge this week.
Bridge closures are scheduled each day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, Wednesday, Dec. 3, and Thursday, Dec. 4. On Friday, Dec. 5, the closure is scheduled for 11:59 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Traffic holds, where vehicles are stopped for approximately 20-minute periods, were tentatively scheduled for Dec. 4 and 5, according to the Port Authority.
The closures and holds are necessary because of the “Raise the Roadway” project on the span to eventually lift the roadway 65 feet higher to allow bigger ships to pass underneath.
