JERSEY CITY – As a part of Hyatt Community Grants, a philanthropic program that empowers Hyatt colleagues to guide charitable giving, Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson announced that it has awarded KidsGardening.org $20,000 to up put a garden in every school. Of this, $7,500 comes from Hyatt Jersey City.
The Hyatt Community Grants program, which is now in its seventh year, encourages hotels around the world to identify and nominate local nonprofits for funding consideration.
“We are honored to support KidsGardening.org and their valuable contributions to our community,” said Michael Hickey, General Manager, Hyatt Regency Jersey City “It is so important for us to be active participants in our area, and this program gives us the great opportunity to give back to the local organizations that do so much for our city. The team at KidsGardening.org has already helped hundreds of youth in our community access health and nutrition education and environmental stewardship opportunities through the establishment of school gardens. We are excited to contribute to an additional school garden installation in Jersey City at Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School.”
Funding for the Hyatt Community Grants program is provided through Hyatt. Hyatt Regency Jersey City will be among 31 Hyatt hotels around the world that will award grants to nonprofits in their local communities in 2014.
