Newport tree lighting on Dec. 2

JERSEY CITY — Newport’s annual Tree Lighting ceremony is happening December 2 at 6 p.m.
For the first time, Newport will be selecting a child via a raffle to help Santa light the tree during the ceremony. Santa will be co-emceeing throughout the evening with Jersey City’s Mayor Steven Fulop. Additional festivities will include a light-and-music show, Victorian carolers, train rides for children, cookies and hot cocoa provided by Newport’s Morton Williams, and meet-and-greets with Santa and Mrs. Clause following the lighting ceremony.
