Camacho, Radil Brothers spark Bengals win

At (7-3) the Bengals grip on first place grew a little tighter as they hoped to seal the deal with a victory over the (5-5) Chargers in a week 8 JCC of Bayonne Sr. Division faceoff. Scoring first on a Drew Radil to Jared Radil 30 yard TD strike the Bengals looked sharp and focused. Equally zoned-in the Chargers took an 8-6 advantage on a James Johnson TD grab and a two point toss to Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes. Switching gears the Bengals countered with a 25 yard TD sprint by Alex Camacho to grab a 12-8 advantage. After working the ball up court with quick tosses to Jaden Subacz, Kasper Hooks and Jalen Nash the Chargers cashed in with a 10 yard TD sweep by Kevin Aguilar and a James Johnson dash for two points making it 16-12, Chargers. Locked in an old fashion donnybrook the Bengals fought back with a TD pass to Jared Radil, a TD run by Harsh Easwar and a pair of two point conversions by Andres Giron and Easwar to build a 28-16 lead. Aiding in the Bengals second half surge was their defensive secondary as Jared Radil pilfered a Chargers pass. With the Bengals focused on the Chargers deep passing attack the Chargers changed gears by handing off to Alejandro Cifuentes who torched the court for a wire to wire TD gallop while Johnson’s two point plunge cut the Bengals lead to 28-24. Returning to their ground game after completing short tosses to Kyle Arano and Ian Giron the Bengals increased their lead to 34-24 on a 30 yard TD run by Andres Giron. Down by ten the Chargers roared back as Johnson connected with Kevin Aguilar on a long TD gem before a TD and two point toss to Alejandro Cifuentes put the Chargers up 38-34 with less than two minutes to play. Needing a big play to mount a final drive QB Drew Radil drilled a goal to goal TD bomb to Alex Camacho before making it 42-38 with a two point pass to Jared Radil. Holding on for dear life the Bengals almost fell prey to a last second “HailMary pass” but the ball sailed just inches off target as they Bengals escaped with a 42-38 victory.
