MILWID, ALBEN JOSEPH

90, passed away on January 5, 2015, at Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, Fla., He was born in Bayonne, and was predeceased by his wife, Edith, as well as his parents and siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy J. Milwid-Reed and his son, Douglas E. Milwid, of Hudson, FL, both formerly from Woodstown, NJ, and his granddaughter, Valerie E. Fisher, Pennsville, NJ. He attended Notre Dame University, Fordham University and The Rhode Island School of Design. He also served as a military staff sergeant squad leader in the F Company 415 Infantry 104th Division (the Night Fighting Timberwolves) and was awarded a medal for expert marksmanship and received the Purple Heart when he was wounded and honorably discharged. He worked for the three big flooring companies: Congoleum, Armstrong, and Mannington Mills, Inc., in Salem, NJ. The majority of his work life was with Mannington Mills, initially as a designer and then later as vice-president of the styling department. He retired in 1989 after working a total of 25 years for Mannington, and then moved to Florida. In his later years he had many hobbies and was a member of the Lithuanian-American Club of Pasco County, Florida; the VFW in Charleston, SC; and the Disabled American Veterans organization (DAV).
