LOMBARDO, REV. GERARD M.

62, died on January 13, 2015. He was the pastor of St. Michael / St. Joseph Parish in Bayonne and chaplain at St. Barnabas. Born in Avoca, Penn, Father Lombardo attended Immaculate Conception Seminary in Darlington and at Seton Hall University. He was ordained a priest on November 22, 1986 in Sacred Heart Cathedral Basilica, Newark, by His Eminence Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, who was then the Archbishop of Newark. Father Lombardo obtained the degrees of master of divinity and bachelor of arts from Immaculate Conception Seminary. He served as a parochial vicar at these New Jersey parishes: Assumption in Roselle Park, St. Benedict in Newark, Our Lady of Fatima in North Bergen, St. Thomas More in Fairfield, Immaculate Heart of Mary/St. Patrick in Elizabeth and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Ridgewood. In addition to these assignments, he also served as chaplain at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. In 2003, Archbishop John J. Myers appointed him pastor of St. Michael /St. Joseph Parish. Father Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Regina Lombardo (nee McGowan), and a sister, Karen Lombardo. He is survived by two sisters, Michele Brado and her husband, Joseph, and Maureen Lombardo and her spouse, Dinah Holm; also survived by four nieces and nephews, Joseph, Adam and Erica Brado, and Talia Lombardo.
