Dear Editor:
I haven’t noticed much news coverage of this, but I wanted everyone to note that our Congressman, Albio Sires, has joined the Republican party in two recent crucial votes of the new Congress. He voted with the GOP majority to further gut the Dodd-Franks Act which prohibits Wall Street from gambling on derivatives with our taxpayer money. He also voted with the GOP majority to authorize the Keystone pipeline- a major problem for the environment and a give away to the Big Oil industry.
The President and most Democrats have opposed both, and they are terrible ideas that help big business and harm the rest of us. This is terribly sad and very disappointing actions from someone I have supported in the past. I don’t know why Sires has decided to oppose the president and most sensible members of his party, but I will make an appointment to find out. Either way it looks like time to find someone to challenge him in the next primary.
