Stars from Wicked, Xanadu, In the Heights, Rent, Rock of Ages, and more unite for High Tech fundraiser

A selection of Broadway stars will perform at a special benefit concert to help raise money for HT Musical Theatre, a performing arts group at High Tech High School – a public high school accepting bright students from all Hudson County towns. Students in the Musical Theatre program have been selected to perform their spring production of A Chorus Line at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland this August. A total of 25 Students have to fundraise upwards of about $150,000 for the trip to cover all expenses to the festival.
The Broadway stars will perform some signature songs and songs of love just in time for Valentine’s Day in the intimate 140 seat Black Box Theatre with a live band. The performance will take place on Monday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at High Tech High School, 8511 Tonnelle Ave (Rt. 1/9), North Bergen. (201) 662-6800 x8241.
Stars performing in the production include Mandy Gonzalez (In the Heights, Wicked), Michael Cusumano (An American in Paris, Chicago), Kerry Butler (Catch Me If You Can, Xanadu, Hairspray), Christine Pedi (Chicago, Newsical), James Carpinello (Rock of Ages, Saturday Night Fever), Telly Leung (Godspell, Rent, Glee), Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages, Jekyll & Hyde), Anastacia McCleskey (Violet, Book of Mormon, Priscilla), Kate Loprest (First Date, Wonderland), and Clarke Thorell (Annie, Hairspray), with more to be announced along the way.

HT Musical Theatre, the winner of various awards including Rising Stars at Papermill Playhouse and Metro North Cappies, is celebrating 15 years of award winning theatre, bringing quality high school theatre to its community.
