Funeral services took place Feb. 16 for James G. D’Arrigo, 82, of Jersey City. He passed away surrounded by his family at Cusack Care Center on Feb. 13. Born in Messina, Italy, James came to the United States in 1956 after surviving the sinking of the Andrea Doria. He worked as an accountant for ILGWU until retiring in 1996. James was a Democratic Committeeman for Ward C in Jersey City, Treasurer of the Hudson County Special Olympics and member of the Cavaliere D’Malta (Order of Malta). He enjoyed sailing, hunting and was a numismatist and philatelist. James was an avid reader and enjoyed exploring different spiritual beliefs, particularly Native American. James is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria nee’ Vivenzio and his daughter, Dawn D’Arrigo. He is the father of Yvette Masullo and grandfather of Peter, Paul, Mark and Melina Masullo. James was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Carmelo D’Arrigo and his siblings, Grazia Ossimprandi and Santo and Giuseppe D’Arrigo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
