Still in search of their first victory, the (0-3) Bruins have been steadily improving as they took to the court to face the (1-1) Red Wings in a JCC of Bayonne Jr. Division Floor Hockey duel. The Red Wings jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Michael Egan and Aaliyana Cifuentes each pumped in goals with David Matos picking up a pair of assists. With Jonathan Tom at net, the Red Wings kept the Bruins off the scoreboard for most of the game. It took a diving slap shot from the Bruins’ Roman Popowski to finally spark some offense as the Bruins closed to within a goal at 2-1, Red Wings. Frozen at 2-1 for ten minutes, the Red Wings gave themselves some breathing room as Aaliyana Cifuentes drilled in her second goal of the game to make it 3-1, Red Wings. Trailing by two, the hard driving Bruins ruled the final ten minutes with Michael “Stonewall” McCollum, Edward Denne, and Roman Popowski firing shots on net. The Bruins’ effort paid off at the two minute mark as Kailey Delauter zipped a pass to Dylan Subacz who made it 3-2 with a scoring dart. Flying through the final minute, the Bruins had their chances but the Red Wings hung in for a hard fought 3-2 victory.
