A fond remembrance

To the Editor:

May 14, 2015 will mark 17 years since the death of singer/actor Frank Sinatra. He left an indelible legacy of classy showmanship in his illustrious career, particularly in pop music. The recent HBO documentary special, “Sinatra: All or Nothing At All,” was a no-punches-pulled, gutsy, warts-and-all revelation of an extraordinary man determined to do it his way and in most cases, he did. Frank Sinatra literally lived the “Great American Songbook” and for that I, along with legions of his fans, including Peggy King and the Philly-based All-Star Jazz Trio, singer Harry Prime, music director George Roumanis, talent promoter/musician Billy Jon Coogan, opera singer Sara Litchfield, DJ Ronnie Allen, WYYR program director Chris Valenti, music archivist Anthony DiFlorio III, and actress/singer Jane Powell will be eternally grateful. Rest in peace, Frank. You’ll always be “A Number One, Top of the List.”
