UNION CITY – The City of Union City scheduled two events for Wednesday, May 20 in commemoration of Cuba’s Independence Day. The first was a flag-raising ceremony at noon in International Park, Palisade Avenue and 38th Street. The ceremony included invited guest speakers and the raising of the Cuban flag.
This second event is a cultural program at 7 p.m. at Jose Marti Freshman Academy, 1800 Summit Ave. Live music and other entertainment will be provided, along with typical Cuban food. The event will include invited guest speakers. Members of several local Cuban organizations are expected to attend.
Admission is free. Everyone in the community is invited.
