Board of Education recognizes girls bowling league

The Bayonne High School girls’ bowling team was recognized by the board of education for their dedication and accomplishments over the course of the season on March 19. Following a successful regular season campaign where the Bowling Bees won the HCIAL South Divisional Title, the Lady Bees continued their winning ways bringing home the HCIAL County Championship, and added the Group IV North Jersey State Sectional Title to their trophy case.
Team co-captain junior Carolina Hernandez had this to say about the teams season, “We set our goals at the beginning of the season to make improvements each week. We did not imagine that we would be as successful as we were this year Mr. G has given us the confidence to recognize that as long as we accomplish what we set out to do, we can walk out of the bowling alley with our heads held high.”
Entering his first season as the head coach of the team, Coach Gurczeski set out to create a new culture for the team, “When the season began I gathered both the boys and girls teams together and told them that like a house we will build our season one brick or frame at a time. It has been an honor to work with these girls every week. Their hard work and dedication are the reasons why they have become so successful so quickly.”
Bayonne High School principal had this to say about the team’s successful campaign, “The Bayonne High School community is so proud Coach Gurczeski and the team for their accomplishments. This year’s team continues to build upon the tradition that was created by Coach Dandrea and set the bar higher and higher for student athletes here at Bayonne High School.” Dr. Patricia L. McGeehan added, “I am proud of our student athletes and their accomplishments this season.”
