NY Giant Rashad Jennings inspires local kids to read

SECAUCUS – NY Giants running back and Secaucus resident Rashad Jennings had the kids leaping up and cheering as he introduced his Reading Challenge program at Clarendon School on Wednesday, June 3. The auditorium echoed with the screams of pumped-up kids as Jennings offered an inspiring speech, informing the kids he had never touched alcohol or cigarettes in his life and encouraging them to read and strive to be their best.
Through his reading program, children get credit each time they read any of a long list of books and score 80 percent or higher on a test. For each book they receive an entry into a raffle, with one winner each month picked at random. That winner can then choose from an assortment of used Giants game memorabilia, including autographed jerseys or cleats. Students in grades 2 through 6 at Huber Street and Clarendon Schools in Secaucus are eligible to participate.
