Kopacz named assistant superintendent in Bayonne

BAYONNE – Kenneth Kopacz has been promoted to an assistant superintendent for the city’s nearly 10,000-student school district, a Bayonne Board of Education official said on Monday, June 29.
Kopacz will become the Bayonne School District’s assistant superintendent for curriculum, effective July 1, according to Board of Education President William Lawson. The post also oversees student testing.
“We had three superintendents, we’re down to one (fulltime), and now we have a second one,” Lawson said.
Kopacz had been principal of Washington Community School, where his salary had been $117,000, according to Lawson. His new salary will be $156,000.
Kopacz also represents Bayonne on the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
Robert Craig is the district’s assistant superintendent for personnel. Leo Smith Jr. is the school business administrator/assistant superintendent of business. Dr. Patricia L. McGeehan is the superintendent of schools. –Joseph Passantino
