NORTH HUDSON – This year the annual Macy’s firework display will be held in the East River, not easy to see from Hudson County — but it is expected that many people will come to the Gold Coast along Boulevard East and the Waterfront walkway to celebrate Independence Day anyway.
Port Imperial Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic from Baldwin Avenue in Weehawken to the Bergen County border from 7 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, July 4. This is necessary to ensure the safety of all residents of the area and ensure the ability of emergency vehicles to move throughout the county, officials said.
Also, there will be no coolers or backpacks permitted on the waterfront viewing area from noon to midnight.
If you live along the waterfront and are anticipating visitors, it is strongly recommended that they arrive at your home before 4 p.m.. The exact time of road closures will depend on conditions as they develop during the day. Some roads may be closed earlier than 7 p.m. Once the decision is made to close the roads, they will only be accessible to emergency vehicles.
