PALMER, KENNETH R. SR.

Funeral services took place June 17 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jersey City, for Kenneth R. Palmer, Sr. He passed away June 12 at Select Specialty Hospital surrounded by his loved ones after a long illness. Born in North Bergen, he lived his entire life in Union City and upstate New York.
He was an auto/truck mechanic who had his own Shell Service Station and worked for Ford, Dodge, Gelco Truck Leasing and retired form Penske Truck Leasing as a Mechanic Supervisor in 1998. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler. He also raced drag cars and loved working outdoors. He was in the U.S. Air Force for 4+ years and was a gunner during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife Barbara “Sankavitch” Palmer, his children Lynda Lee Winkle, Kenneth R. Palmer, Jr., and Robin Marie Wiemert and husband Lewis Wiemert, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother M. Robert Palmer, Sr. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
