HAMS, HELEN MAY

A funeral service took place July 10 at Grace Episcopal Church, Union City, for Helen May Hams, 88, of Weehawken. She passed away July 6 at Hoboken University Hospital. She was born in Weehawken and lived there all her life. For 45 years she worked for Citi Bank of New York City as an Executive Assistant. An active member of the Weehawken Senior Citizens, she was named Weehawken Senior of the Year (2013) for her efforts with the VFW among other organizations. She was a lifelong parishioner of Grace Episcopal Church, Union City where she served as Secretary of the Vestry, Treasurer of the Altar Guild and ECW.
She was predeceased by husband, Willis J. Hams and her parents Charles and Helen (Spahn) Faistl. Helen was the sister of Marjory L. Provost and Charles Faistl; sister-in-law of Marilyn Hams. She was the Aunt of: Kathleen Burek, Patricia Patterson,Thomas Patterson, Nancy Pertschuk, Ellen Provost, Alfred Provost, Linda Lassen, Amy Lenehan, Barbara Ribar, Marilyn Stanckwitz and Thomas Hams. She was also survived by great nieces and nephews: Aleson Burek, Katherine Burek, Jonathan Burek, Charles Aquadro, Meolissa Pertschuk, Hailey Patterson, Wayne Lassen, Sarah Lassen, Matthew Lassen, Rebecca Lassen, Megan Lenehan, Kaitlyn Lenehan, Robert Ribon, Christopher Stenckwitz, Bryan Stanckwitz, Thomas Hams III, and Nathaniel Hams as well as the late Evelyn Atridge, Dolores Patterson and Albert Spahn. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
