JERSEY CITY — Herbert G. Bax, Jr. and Renold Egalite Jr., of Brooklyn, were charged with allegedly falsifying credit cards after Port Authority Police pulled Bax’s car over for a traffic stop.
PA Police Lieutenant John Collis pulled over a white Nissan sedan at Manila and 14 Street in Jersey City at about 6 p.m. on Aug. 27 for failure to have a current inspection.
A computer check showed a traffic warrant out of Westhampton, N.J. for $195 for Bax, who was then arrested.
Inventory of the auto revealed 14 credit cards in the one of the men’s name along with five gift cards in plain view on the car’s dashboard, Port Authority police said. While the Nissan was being inventoried, an additional 15 gift cards and their original packaging were found, for a total of 14 credit cards and 20 gift cards.
A computer check by the lieutenant also confirmed Mr. Egalite has active traffic warrant outs several NJ municipalities, totaling over $1,300.
