WARDELL, HELEN G.

A funeral mass took place Sept. 17 at St. Joseph’s of the Palisades Church, West New York, for Helen G. Wardell of West New York. She passed away Sept. 13 with her family by her side.
Helen was born in New London, Conn., and was raised in New Britain, Conn., coming to live in West New York for 70 years, where she married Clarence Wardell. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s of the Palisades Church and belonged to the WNY Senior Citizens and the Western Slope Seniors of North Bergen. After retiring from her job of 49 years in Modern Thread, she was currently working as a lunch monitor for PS 4 in Wes New York for 12 years to help with the children, better known as “Miss Helen” to them. She loved to ballroom dance and her most valuable role was being a mother, grandmother always worrying about all and will truly missed. Helen enjoyed cooking and made the best eggplant parmigiana around and also enjoyed being out and about and loved getting her hair styled.
She was the mother of Nancy Lombardo of Ridgefield Park; and Richard Wardell and his wife Nancy of Killingworth, Conn.; grandmother of James Lombardo, (Gina), Marc Lombardo, Christopher ( Blake) Lombardo and Joshua Wardell and his wife Samantha; great-grandmother of Nicholas Fernandez and Ava and Jarod Arias. Survived by many cousins and nieces as well as a true friend Christine Arias. Services arranged by the Konopka Funeral Home, North Bergen.
